Heavy traffic is expected at both Tuas and Woodlands checkpoints over the long weekend this week.

The Good Friday long weekend has traditionally been the busiest long weekend of the calendar year for the land checkpoints, according to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority.

Travellers are to expect longer waiting time to clear immigration.

Those who need to travel during this peak period can consider taking the cross-border bus services to avoid getting caught in the jam.

ICA advises travellers to cooperate with its officers, observe traffic rules and maintain lane discipline.

Those travelling by car and motorcycle are encouraged to use QR codes in lieu of passports for faster and more convenient immigration clearance.

Motorists are reminded to refrain from queue cutting as it can cause severe congestion and compromise the safety of other motorists.

Errant motorists caught cutting queue will be turned away and made to re-join the queue.
