It's samba time as Brazil welcomes the best footballers for the World Cup.

And with Football Kaki Live, you will not miss a beat.

The New Paper's mobile football application for iOS and Android devices has been updated to include coverage of the World Cup, which starts on Thursday in Brazil (Friday morning, Singapore time).

The World Cup section will include all the live features users have come to love about Football Kaki since it was developed for the 2010 tournament in South Africa.

Besides match updates, users can check the latest live scores and find out what is going on via live text commentary.

Mr Lau Guo Ann, a banking industry products specialist who has been using the app since 2011, said: "I'm very excited about the World Cup and Football Kaki's comprehensive coverage will help me keep up to date with the games I won't be able to watch.

"I've been using the app for a while now and I like the new interface because it's easy to use."

Beyond live updates and alerts, which will ensure you are on top of all the action in South America, Football Kaki has a dedicated video section for the first time.

For the duration of the World Cup, our man in Brazil, Mr Neil Humphreys, will be taking time out from his hectic schedule to put up video clips.

"I hope the videos offer a slice of the street scene in Brazil, insights from the stadium and the press conferences and, most of all, lots of bronzed Brazilians on the beach doing daft things for Singaporean viewers," he said.

He will also take the best questions from readers and discuss them in his video blogs.

One Football Kaki user, Mr Mohamed Noor Hadi, is looking forward to Mr Humphreys' videos.

"I always have a good laugh reading Neil's columns in The New Paper and I can't wait to see what he has in store for us when he goes to Brazil," said the 29-year-old business owner.

"The World Cup is such a big event and you can never get enough of content when it's on."

Football Kaki will continue to provide live updates from the Great Eastern-Yeo's S.League, RHB Singapore Cup and Malaysia Super League.
