Hope ...for my fiancé

This article is more than 12 months old

And in six months, they were supposed to tie the knot.

But Mr Alain Oktavianus Siaun, 27, who boarded an earlier flight, never made it to Singapore.

His plane, AirAsia flight QZ8501, disappeared after the airliner lost contact with Jakarta air traffic control at 7.17am.

His shell-shocked fiancée, Miss Louise Sidharta, 25, is hoping against hope that her husband-to-be will be found.

She told reporters at Changi Airport on Sunday that her fiancé had boarded the missing AirAsia plane with his parents and three brothers.

She was supposed to join them in Singapore on a later flight.

But as she was on the way to Surabaya Airport in Indonesia, she heard the shocking news that flight QZ8501 had disappeared.

Her worst fears were then realised when she checked the status of the flight online and confirmed that her fiancé, who is an Indonesian entrepreneur, was indeed on board the missing plane.

"I heard it on the radio and immediately browsed the Internet and saw the news," she told News.com.au.

"My heart knew by then that my fiancé was on that flight."

MISSING

As soon as her plane touched down at Changi Airport on Sunday, Miss Sidharta was taken to a holding area set up for relatives and friends of the missing passengers on board AirAsia flight QZ8501, reported Bloomberg.

For her, what was meant to be their last holiday has now turned into a nightmare vigil for news about the plane.

But Miss Sidharta refuses to give up hope.

She told reporters that she and Mr Alain had planned to marry in May next year.

"We are not thinking negatively right now. We are only having positive thoughts," she said.

"We have to stay positive and hope that they could be found soon."
