'I'm considering moving': West Coast resident complains about noise from 1am pickleball game
The games usually start at around 8.30am and continue through the afternoon, said the resident.
A recent pickleball session in Clementi that went on till 2am has incurred the ire of a resident, Shin Min Daily News reported.
The resident, who only wished to be known as Ms Guo, said the group played on the badminton court below Block 512 West Coast Drive on Sept 5.
The 28-year-old rents a flat on the eighth floor and could still hear the noise from the game.
Group played pickleball till 2am
According to video footage, six people were at the badminton court, with three of them playing pickleball. The sounds of the game were clearly audible in the video.
"This group of people must have come from a gathering elsewhere and weren't satisfied, so they decided to continue playing at the badminton court," said Ms Guo.
She added that she is a light sleeper, so any noise would keep her awake. "The sound of the pickleball game was very loud and disturbed others in the early hours," she said, adding that the group played until 2am.
People start playing pickleball at 8.30am
Ms Guo told Shin Min that she has lived in the area for over a year, and this was the first time she had encountered people playing pickleball in the early hours.
She added that games usually start at around 8.30am and continue through the afternoon, ending by evening.
Ms Guo clarified that she is not against exercise, but noted that she occasionally works late and struggles to rest as the games resume early the next morning.
Her current lease runs till mid-next year. "I'm considering moving because of the noise issue," she said.
