Intruder nearly rapes grandmother

This article is more than 12 months old

A 59-year-old grandmother from Malacca was nearly raped by an intruder in the early hours of June 6.

The Star in Malaysia reported that the grandmother of four was rudely awakened at around 4am when she felt someone sitting on top of her.

When she cried out for help, she said the man gagged her a pillow while holding both her hands tightly.

Madam Halimah Ismail said the intruder fled when his attempt to rape her had failed. She claimed she tightly held on to her sarong as the man tugged at it.

In an interview with The Star, Madam Halimah said, during the struggle she noticed the man had strong body odour. Yet, she claimed, he said that it was she who had body odour.

Still traumatised from the incident, Madam Halimah described the man as thin and bald.

She believes the man entered her home through a window to her room. She reckons too, that he was aware she lives alone and may target her again.

Madam Halimah has taken to sleeping in the hall of her house now, and has also changed to wearing track pants to sleep.

Malacca police believe the intruder is from the same village and are searching for the culprit.
