'Irresponsible celebration': Deepavali festivities marred by litter
"You got evidence it's that race?" one user commented.
Several neighbourhoods were left strewn with litter in the aftermath of Deepavali celebrations over the weekend.
On Oct 21, a day after the celebrations, a Reddit post highlighted a messy playground in Punggol, with trash scattered across the slides and benches. Images and videos of the area also circulated online.
"The crowd was here since 7pm and I could hear celebrations all the way until midnight," wrote the Redditor who posted the image.

Punggol was not the only neighbourhood affected.
In a one-minute video posted by TikToker @gazing.pw, he criticised the improper disposal of trash left at East Coast Beach, similarly blaming it on the festivity.
He called out the revelers: "You wouldn't like it if I come to your country and you know, do the same thing to your own country."
Captioned "My beloved ECP", the clip, which was posted on Oct 21, had 18,200 views, 390 reactions and 116 comments at press time.
In another TikTok video, revelers were seen dancing on the road in Little India and disrupting traffic.

As netizens turned to social media to share their frustration over the litter and disruptions, many compared the scenes to the Hungry Ghost Festival.
"A lot of it was being washed into the sea too," one user said of the rubbish left at East Coast Park, while another claimed to have seen Punggol cleaners tirelessly clearing up the mess.
"You got evidence it's that race?" one commenter asked, while others blamed the mess on Deepavali, adding that "it was a long weekend" and the litter could have been left by anyone.
One Redditor even joked that he wished for a Doraemon gadget that could send the "rubbish back to its owners."
Meanwhile, one netizen said they saw parents urging their children to pick up after themselves during the celebration at the void deck. The user added, "By the time I went for my night walk, the void deck was pretty much entirely clean."
