Jail for worker involved in Kaki Bukit dorm fight
A foreign worker involved in the fracas at a Kaki Bukit dormitory last month was yesterday sentenced to two weeks jail.
Indian national Dharmaraj Ramesh on Tuesday pleaded guilty to an amended charge of using criminal force on Bangladeshi national Ahsan Habib Md Fazlan Rahman, 26, at Homestay Residences.
The 25-year-old is the first accused of the group involved in the dormitory fight to plead guilty.
He admitted to throwing an empty beer can in the Bangladeshi worker's direction on March 5 after he became irritated by the noise they were making while they watched a cricket match that night.
The ensuing confrontation between the two men later resulted in a large-scale fight at a nearby carpark.
Dharmaraj's sentence has been backdated to his remand date of March 28.
Of the 17 men charged for their alleged involvement in the brawl, 15 are still to be dealt with.
Another man was earlier given a discharge amounting to an acquittal.
