Lesbian PE teacher gets 15 months' jail for sex with student, 15

A PE teacher at a posh all-girls private school was jailed for 15 months yesterday.

She had sex with a female student, 15.

Emily Fox, 26, exchanged hundreds of "sexually explicit" messages with the teen.

The pair struck up a friendship in late 2012. But the bond led to kissing, and later, sexual touching from Easter last year, a court heard.

Fox was a teacher at the Royal Masonic School for Girls in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire – which charges up to £25,800 (about S$50,000) a year in fees.

The relationship was discovered in August last year when the victims' parents saw an accidentally-printed revealing email. The victim cannot be named for legal reasons.

Fox had admitted to four counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child while in a position of trust last month.

Dee Connelly, mitigating, said Fox had shown bravery in admitting the offences. The Bath resident had wanted to be a teacher from a young age and accepts her career is now ruined, British paper Daily Mail reported.

Fox suffered depression after her parents moved to America, the court heard.

While the judge told Fox he had no doubt she was a gifted teacher, he called this type of behaviour "extremely grave".

On sex offenders' register for 10 years

He added: "You were always aware that the relationship was not only wrong but also unlawful."

He sentenced Fox to concurrent sentences of one month, six months and two of 15 months.

She will also be on  the sex offenders’ register for ten years.
