Maid stole $4,346 worth of cash and jewellery
Court documents revealed that the accused began working at a condominium unit along West Coast Road in 2023. Her duties mainly involved cooking and doing household chores for a family of four.
On Aug 12 this year, her employer, 38, discovered that cash and jewellery were missing when she opened the safe, and lodged a police report.
Investigations showed that between March and Aug, Kasiteluo stole from the safe on at least five occasions. The stolen items included a gold pendant, a gold sceptre, RMB 5,900 (S$1,065), and €930 (S$1,396), amounting to about $4,346 in value.
The maid confessed she was tempted to steal as the safe was left open and kept in an unlocked cabinet. She kept the stolen items in a wardrobe in the guest room.
