Indonesian media are reporting that Malaysia Airlines flight MH135 en route to Brisbane was forced to land in Bali this afternoon (Oct 24) after a passenger started experiencing labour contractions.

"As soon as the plane landed, the passenger was rushed to Kasih Ibu General Hospital," Ngurah Rai International Airport general manager Herry A Y Sikado told Indonesia's MetroTV News.

He said the plane landed at Ngurah Rai at 2.10pm Central Indonesian time.

The pregnant passenger was identified as Samual P Jeyanthi, an Australian citizen who was flying from Kuala Lumpur to Brisbane, reported Antara News.

The plane, with the rest of its 178 passengers, departed for Brisbane at 4.14pm.

"The incident did not affect operations at the airport," said Mr Herry.
