Man arrested four hours after stealing gold bracelet worth $10,000
The police arrested a 52-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a robbery.
On March 26 at about 12.15pm, the police were alerted to a case of robbery along Jalan Bukit Merah.
An elderly man had reported that a man had allegedly robbed his gold bracelet - valued at more than $10,000 - before fleeing.
The victim sustained minor injuries while struggling.
Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras and CCTVs, officers from the Central Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within four hours of the report.
The gold bracelet was subsequently recovered.
The man will be charged on March 27 and if found guilty, he can be jailed between two and 10 years and caned at least six strokes.
The police shared that they do not tolerate such brazen acts of crime and will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law.
Members of the public who encounter such cases are advised to remain calm, take note of the physical appearance and distinctive features of the perpetrator, and call the police as soon as possible.
