Man arrested for trying to bribe 2 S'pore policemen with $200

Here's how to make a bad situation worse.

A 29-year-old man was stopped by two police officers at Sembawang Drive at 11.23pm on Tuesday for behaving suspiciously.

Officers found a packet of contraband cigarettes on him during a spot check and told him he would receive a summons for possessing the item, stated a police press release.

The man then offered to give the two officers $200 if they would let him go.

The officers rejected the bribe and arrested the man.

He is now being investigated by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau for the bribery attempt and the Singapore Customs for possession of contraband cigarettes.
