Man books theatres for $50k to spite ex-girlfriend
He wanted to show his former girlfriend what she was missing.
Seven years ago, she apparently dumped the Beijing-based man because he could not afford two movie tickets, Shanghai Daily reported.
The man, surnamed Wang, spent about 250,000 yuan (S$50,000) to book all the seats in two IMAX theatres this Friday.
The theatres are screening Transformers 4.
A post on the man’s microblogging site weibo has been retweeted nearly 90,000 times as of Tuesday, Beijing Youth Daily reported.
Agent confirms
Some people questioned whether it was true, but a Shanghai ticket agent confirmed that Mr Wang, who is based in Nanjing and Shanghai, had booked the tickets.
He also posted pictures of the invoices and agreements he signed with the cinemas, the report said.
Individuals who repost the information have a chance to win free tickets, according to Mr Wang.
“Is it really worth working so hard to show off to your ex-girlfriend, who may not even find out about it?” one person posted on Mr Wang’s microblog.
