Man charged with murder of father
The man who allegedly killed his father at their West Coast home was charged with murder yesterday.
Mark Tan Peng Liat, 29, a businessman, appeared in court clad in an olive green shirt and he appeared calm as the charge was read out to him.
A woman believed to be Tan's wife was seen sobbing in the gallery during the hearing.
Tan is accused of murdering Mr Tan Kok Keng, 67, at their semi-detached house in West Coast Rise at about 5.25pm on Tuesday.
Mr Tan was taken unconscious to the National University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 6.50pm that day.
The younger Tan is remanded for further investigation.
He is expected to be back in court on Feb 18.
