Residents of Circuit Road HDB flats have complained about a man who would feed flocks of pigeons every evening.

But when he was approached and asked about it, he claimed, "It just looks like me, but it's not me!"

Ms Xu, a 41-year-old resident, told Lianhe Zaobao she believed the man did not live in the area but had been showing up since a few weeks ago to feed the pigeons almost every day.

She added that he would feed bread to the pigeons at Block 68.

"He scattered the bread all over the grass, and the pigeons flew everywhere when they were fighting for the food. It was dirty and messy, and really unhygienic."

Ms Chen, 58, said she would see bird droppings on the floor near her door.

"I have to clean up after a tiring day at work. I have to wash it. It's really tiring and annoying."

According to a video shot by residents, the man would take bread out of his bag, tear it into little pieces and throw them on the grass, with dozens of pigeons that had gathered on the lawn pecking at the food.

A reporter from Shin Min Daily News visited the block of flats and found flocks of pigeons on the grass patches and along the walls of the block.

At around 4pm, the pigeons gathered at the foot of Block 68, seemingly waiting for something.

About an hour later, a man holding bread appeared and started tearing off pieces of bread to feed the pigeons, almost identical to what happened in the video.

As he was feeding the pigeons, he spotted the Chinese daily reporter and asked why he was taking photos.

When confronted, the man initially denied feeding the pigeons, but then changed his story and said that it was his first time in the area. He also claimed he was not aware that he was not allowed to feed the birds.

The reporter showed the man a video clip of him feeding the birds but he denied it was him.

"He looks like me, but it's not me. It might be my friend. I will warn him."

He added that he bought the bread for his children at home and hurriedly left the scene.
