Car crashes into man standing at roadside in Geylang; driver appears dazed and disoriented
A Caucasian man, who had just finished his meal at about 10am on March 10, was standing by the roadside when he saw a car barrelling towards him.
The man, who is believed to be a middle-aged foreigner, tried to jump out of the car's path but apparently could not get away in time.
He was flung about 2m away and was badly injured, bleeding heavily as he lay at the junction of Geylang Road and Lorong 18 Geylang.
Witnesses told Shin Min Daily News that the vehicle also crashed into a tree.
The SCDF was alerted to the accident at 10.15am, and two individuals were taken to hospital.
After the crash, the driver of the car, a middle-aged Chinese man, appeared dazed and disoriented inside the vehicle.
When reporters arrived, he was still seated in the car. He was seen rocking to and fro, mumbling incoherently and occasionally laughing. At one point, he propped his legs up on the steering wheel.
He appeared too weak to stand.
Paramedics helped to stabilise the driver and carefully helped him out of the car before placing him on a stretcher and taking him to the hospital.
