Man flies from Singapore to KL for 'the better nasi lemak'
Nasi lemak is one of the most beloved dishes on both sides of the Causeway, enjoyed by both locals and tourists alike.
The rice cooked in coconut milk, served with a dollop of sambal, is also often the subject of contention between foodies in Singapore and Malaysia.
Who does it better?
A Singapore man seems to have the answer to that question.
Content creator Darshen K. begins his TikTok video by jokingly lamenting how "unfair" it is that Malaysia has "the better nasi lemak".
He and a friend booked a 6am flight to Kuala Lumpur just so he could satisfy his cravings for a plate of the nasi lemak from a restaurant in Petaling Jaya.
After touchdown, the pair wasted no time in heading straight for Village Park Restaurant, a well-known hotspot for top-quality nasi lemak.
Sitting down with a plate in front of him, Darshen eagerly dug in.
His reaction? Pure bliss.
"It was honestly the best nasi lemak I ever had in my life, so I guess I missed it when I left KL," he told Malaysian media outlet WeirdKaya.
His first visit to the restaurant was back in October 2023, during which he instantly fell in love with its nasi lemak.
Returning for another round, he confirmed that the dish was just as incredible as before.
"The nasi lemak still tasted just as superb," he said, adding that he had plans to return to KL to explore even more nasi lemak spots.
