Man shot dead as he tries to kidnap teacher

He carried five litres of petrol, a self-made explosive device and a knife.

Armed with all these, 65-year-old Zhang Zeqing broke into a primary school in Qianjiang City in China’s Hubei Province.

He then attempted to kidnap a school teacher, China Daily reported quoting the Chutian Metropolis Daily.

The Metropolis Daily had uploaded the story and pictures on its official Sina Weibo account.

Police officers outside the classroom which the attacker had taken over.

The incident happened around 9am on Tuesday as he forced his way into a class in a bid to kidnap the woman head teacher of the class.

But before he could do any damage, he was shot dead, the report said. Nobody else was injured.


Photos uploaded on Metropolis Daily's Weibo account showed the classroom where the drama unfolded.

Primary investigations showed the kidnapper had nothing to do with the school, and had been imprisoned twice for theft and making firearms.

He was released last year.
