Man skateboards his way across the Causeway during monsoon surge

Riding a skateboard across the Causeway during a monsoon surge at night? Sounds like a recipe for disaster, but one man seemed to be making the most of it.

A Facebook video posted on March 20 showed a man skateboarding between two lanes of cars inching their way into Malaysia. His helmet sported a blinking warning light, making him visible in the downpour.

Others were seen walking and running through the rain on the road itself, since the pedestrian walkway from Singapore ends abruptly mid-Causeway.

The video amused many online, with one commenter quipping, "We got skateboarding at the Causeway before GTA 6."

Heavy rainfall in Johor has caused severe flooding in three districts, leading to the evacuation of over 700 residents.

Across the Causeway, Singapore's PUB issued flash flood warnings amidst torrential rain across the island on March 19.

This followed the third monsoon surge of 2025, which was expected to affect Singapore from March 19 to 21.

People are advised to avoid walking through moving water deeper than ankle height, and drivers navigating flooded areas should avoid braking to maintain higher, consistent engine speeds.
