Massive manhunt for commando who shot 3 people, killing one
Malaysian police are currently conducting a manhunt for a Malaysian commando who shot and killed a soldier and two civilian bystanders this morning outside a 24-hour convenience store in Lahad Datu, Sabah.
The Star Online reported that the dead soldier has been identified as 28-year-old Lance Corporal Fiffixezafey Mat Hussin.
All three were taken to a hospital in Lahad Datu where Lance Corporal Fiffixezafey Mat Hussin died from his bullet wounds.
Both civilians, aged 31 and 38 are in serious condition.
The Star Online reported that police are investigating the motive for the shooting and could be due to a misunderstanding.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said the manhunt for the commando was launched statewide but they believed that he was still hiding in the vicinity of Lahad Datu.
“We hope to find him and arrest him soon,” he said when contacted.
He also urged the public to remain calm, noting that it was not related to any other criminal elements.
