MH17: Two radio stations to be warned for playing insensitive songs

This article is more than 12 months old

Two radio stations in Malaysia will be given a reminder for playing insensitive songs during the minute of silence observed in Malaysia yesterday (Aug 22) for the victims of the MH17 tragedy.

Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, Malaysia's communications and multimedia minister, said the two stations would be asked to explain its actions, reported New Straits Times.

“The stations are regarded as being obstinate and aired songs which were inappropriate at that time," said Mr Ahmad Shabery.

He said he had directed the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to give the stations a reminder.

"We only asked for one minute and they deemed the one minute cannot be given. So, we also want to know the reason why."
