More workers on Malaysian bikes seen making food deliveries
A member of the public posted a video of a food delivery man, riding a Malaysia-registered motorcycle, delivering food to an HDB flat in Redhill.
The post claims it is not uncommon to see such delivery riders in Redhill.
Delivery driver Zheng Jinyao, 45, told the Shin Min Daily News this is also common in Woodlands.
"Maybe it's because it's near Woodlands Checkpoint, so there are quite a few foreign-registered motorcycles," he said.
Mr Zheng believes such riders register on delivery platforms with local vehicles and then use foreign-registered vehicles to pick up orders and deliveries.
There have been reports of foreigners using the personal information of Singapore friends to register for delivery accounts, and that there are local delivery riders selling or sharing accounts for a price.
Mr Zhen highlighted the difficulty for the authorities to catch foreign delivery riders and drivers red-handed, and how these foreigners are affecting the locals.
A Foodpanda spokesperson said the company does not tolerate any fraudulent activities and has implemented measures to prevent unauthorised use of accounts.
"Only Singapore citizens and permanent residents can apply to become Foodpanda's delivery partners, and identity verification will be carried out during the onboarding process."
Delivery riders and drivers are required to complete facial verification at the start of each job to prevent identity fraud.
Any attempt to circumvent the security checks will result in the user being flagged, as well as the account being suspended, blacklisted or handed over to the authorities.
