Motorcyclist risks life to rescue drunk man on expressway
A motorcyclist put his own safety on the line to help a drunk man walking in the middle of a Singapore expressway on Jan 28.
A video posted on the Singapore Roads Accident Facebook page captured the moment the motorcyclist, noticing the man dangerously wandering along the road, sprang into action.
As the intoxicated man staggered down the expressway, a truck loomed behind him. The motorcyclist immediately rode ahead, parked his bike, and signalled the man to move to safety.
Walking over to the pedestrian, he urged him to get off the road.
"You're walking on the road, got car, dangerous," the motorcyclist cautioned.
When asked if he was okay, the man replied: "Yeah, okay."
The motorcyclist then asked if he had family to call, but the man simply thanked him and waved goodbye before walking along the side of the expressway.
Despite leaving the road momentarily, the man later wandered back onto the divider markings in the middle of the expressway.
Reacting swiftly, the motorcyclist turned on his hazard lights and followed behind him, warning other drivers. Once the man reached a sidewalk, the rider got off his bike for a final safety check before leaving.
The video has since garnered over 71,000 views, with netizens praising the motorcyclist for his selflessness.
One netizen called him "an angel" for risking his life to save another.
However, some expressed scepticism, suggesting he should have let the police handle the situation. Others felt the risk wasn't worth it.
