But instead of showering them with love and affection, she abused one of them until the five-year-old girl died.
Ipoh housewife Choong Mee Chin, 30, was sentenced to six years’ jail for manslaughter and another four years for abusing daughter Ho Yan Hui.
She had caned the child on her head and entire body. The abuse was so bad that the five-year-old died after 11 days in a coma in 2013.
Besides the jail term, Choong also had to post a RM3,000 (S$1,116) bond of good behaviour over a period of three years.
Choong, who was initially charged with murder, had pleaded guilty to manslaughter after she was offered the alternative charge.
