M'sian cops quash rumour of terrorist group targeting country during Christmas
Malaysian authorities have quashed a rumour that a terrorist group is planning to attack the country during the Christmas period.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Datin Asmawati Ahmad said on Tuesday that the rumour spreading through social media and WhatsApp is false.
"The posting via Whatsapp asks people not to visit the shopping complexes and public places for the time being to avoid any untoward incident.
"It also claims that the government has issued a warning on the matter and is asking the people to be cautious," she said in a statement.
The public is advised not to easily believe such rumours and not to disseminate or share false information with others, the police said.
