The Malaysian woman was just praying while her husband slept. But he woke up and thought she was grumbling about him, so he beat her up.

Ms Fadzilah Ismail, 50, claimed her husband abused her non-stop for three hours from 4.15am, reported The Star.

She suffered a fracture in the ordeal on Monday.

"He was so aggressive. He started punching me, then dragged me onto the floor and stepped on my feet, hands and face," she told the newspaper in between tears at a hospital in Alor Setar, Kedah on Saturday.

Unbearable pain

Ms Fadzillah, who works at a printing shop, claimed her 59-year-old husband has been hitting her for years.

She said she had never told anyone about it, but that the latest abuse was just too much.

Ms Fadzillah, who is from Kangar, Perlis, said her cousin took her to Kangar Hospital the day after the beating as the pain had became unbearable.

"Then I lodged a police report in Arau. The next day, my relatives sent me to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital where I was told I suffered a fracture," she said.

Kangar superintendent Abdul Rahman Mohd Noordin said they are investigating the case for voluntarily causing hurt.

"No arrest has been made so far as we need a court order," he said on Saturday.

"However, when I get a report from the hospital on Fadzilah’s injuries, we will reclassify the case and take the necessary action."
