The authorities are looking for a crocodile spotted on a road in Lim Chu Kang on March 18.

In response to queries from The Straits Times, the National Parks Board (NParks) said it was alerted to the sighting on the evening of March 18 and immediately activated a team to search for it.

"We will continue the search tomorrow morning," said NParks.

A Facebook user who wanted to be known only as Mr Koo shared two photos of the reptile in a post on the Singapore Wildlife Sightings group at about 6.40pm.

"Someone's pet lizard sunbathing on the road," he quipped in his post.

Speaking to ST, Mr Koo said he was driving in the area at about 1pm when he spotted the crocodile on the road at Neo Tiew Crescent near Long Kuan Hung Crocodile Farm.

"I thought it came from Sungei Buloh," he said, adding that he was busy at the time, so he just snapped a photo of the crocodile and continued his journey.

NParks said members of the public should stay calm and back away if they encounter a crocodile.

"They should not approach, provoke, or feed the animal," said NParks.

The public may contact NParks at 1800-476-1600 to report any animal encounters.
