NTA pushing for co-sharing of taxis

The National Taxi Association (NTA), together with cab operators, is working towards a cab renting system that will assign two drivers to one new vehicle.

The proposed arrangement will mean that hirers need not look for their own relief drivers, which can be a problem.

Another initiative by the NTA is Share-A-Taxi, meant to help taxi drivers network and deal with the challenges of finding relief drivers.

Fifty taxi hirers, 80 new taxi vocational license holders and 60 people interested in the industry attended the workshop.

Said NTA executive adviser Ang Hin Kee: "When taxi drivers can co-share, they will be able to better manage their time, lifestyle and health."
