Even presidents have their credit cards declined.

On Friday, President Barack Obama talked about this while signing an executive order to protect consumers from identity theft.

He said: "I went to a restaurant up in New York when I was... during the UN General Assembly, and my credit card was rejected.

"It turned out I guess I don't use it enough. They were... they thought there was some fraud going on," continued Obama.

Fortunately, someone else saved the day. His wife, Michelle Obama picked up the tab by using her credit card.

"I was trying to explain to the waitress, you know, I really think that I've been paying my bills."  - President Barack Obama

"Even I'm affected by this," he added.

In July, Obama used a JP Morgan credit card to pay for a bill that amounted to more than $300 had a takeaway barbecue restaurant in Austin, Texas.

But that transaction was successful.
