A woman, 22, was murdered in an “act of cannibalism” by her suspected attacker, Matthew Williams, 34.

Williams died after he was tasered by police at The Sirhowy Arms Hotel in Argoed, South Wales, reported the BBC

It is believed that the woman had been in a relationship with the 34-year-old suspect.

According to UK newspaper Metro, the suspect was allegedly found eating the victim's eyeball and face in the hotel room by hotel security staff.

The shocked security staff immediately called police to the scene.

“The woman, aged 22 from Blackwood, was located with injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said a statement from Gwent Police.

“A taser was discharged and a man was arrested.”

The statement also added that while under arrest, the man became unresponsive.

He was given first aid but was later pronounced dead.

A resident who lives near the hotel, Jill Edwards, said: "This animal was eating this girl to death. He murdered her so police stopped him – good on them.

"Security said they told him no girls in his room and he didn’t answer, when they opened his door he was eating her face."

The case is still under investigation.
