An enraged woman spewed verbal abuse at an old man and repeatedly hammered his vehicle with a steering lock after he hit her brand new Peugeot.

The incident was filmed by a passing motorist and uploaded on YouTube on Tuesday.

In the video, the woman can be seen screaming at the man, calling him "very stupid". In a tantrum, she also demands RM2,000 (S$780) in compensation to be paid immediately.

Despite having his car keys taken from him, the elderly man remains calm and offers to pay for the damage.

The accident, which took place in Kuantan, Pahang, caused a traffic jam.

The Star reported that netizens, incensed at the woman's behaviour, dug up her details and revealed them online.

This led to her Facebook page being flooded with angry remarks and a flurry of Twitter remarks on her bad behavior.

Her car plate number, which is clearly visible in the video, is being used as a hashtag on Twitter by those commenting on the issue.

The man's son, Mr Robin Sim, said: “My parents were traumatised after the incident. However, once he knew that lots of people supported him regardless of their race, he felt better.”

The woman has apologised on her Facebook account: “Please spread the words of my sincere apologies to all Malaysians about my actions. That's not my intention. That's my personal mistakes and anger. I’m alone to be blame in this event.”

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and others have tweeted about the incident, urging others not to bully the woman in the video.

One Twitter user hailed the man as a hero.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar weighed into the issue on Wednesday (July 16) and said that the police will take action against the woman as her actions were inexcusable.

“That’s not the way to handle things as you shouldn’t take the law into your own hands.

“It doesn’t matter whether the man has lodged a report with us over the incident or not.

“The main thing is, we saw the video and the actions of the woman show nothing but the behaviour of a road bully.

“Therefore, we will be lodging a report against her and action will be taken against her,” he told The Star.
