Owner of Commonwealth unit encloses home with puzzling fixture; neighbours report frequent harassments
A photo of a bizarre, Blair Witch-esque flat at Block 83 Commonwealth Close circulating online has spooked quite a few netizens.
Residents say the occupant on the eighth floor behaves oddly and frequently disturbs his neighbours.
One neighbour, who preferred to remain anonymous, told Shin Min Daily News that the unit's male owner lives alone, with occasional visits from his brother.
The neighbour added that the owner initially had over 10 padlocks on his door, leading some to believe it was the work of loan sharks. They later discovered it was the owner himself who installed them.
"He yells at women, and people generally avoid using the lift near his unit."
"Years ago, when I passed by his door, he threw a knife and made ghost-like noises to scare me," the neighbour recounted.
Reportedly, a family next door moved out earlier this January, citing concerns for their two children's safety.
Besides the yelling, some neighbours told the Chinese daily that the man would bang on bamboo poles in the middle of the night, creating a racket.
A 49-year-old man living on the seventh floor said he moved into his unit 15 years ago and has heard knocking noises almost daily, disrupting his family's sleep.
"If he truly needs help, I hope the authorities will intervene and help him get treatment," he said.
Another neighbour on the ninth floor revealed the man harassed him by pasting notes on his door and throwing objects into his flat, prompting him to call the police.

A netizen claiming to be a resident of the area joined the Reddit discussion of the photo, adding that, contrary to speculation about witchcraft, the owner is "unfortunately mentally unsound".
She explained that he rebuilds his fixtures whenever they're torn down and that most residents simply ignore him.
