Panda-monium! 1,600 panda bears invade Hong Kong airport
Remember when Kai Kai and Jia Jia unleashed pandemonium upon their arrival in Singapore?
Those were just two pandas.
Imagine 1,600 of them - well, papier-mache ones.
The cute bears invaded Hong Kong for a tour of the city that is part of the month-long '1,600 Pandas World Tour" campaign.
They will make their mark on more than 10 landmarks in the city including Victoria Harbor.
Expect a flash mob of pandas even in the city's trams.
The bears were designed by French Artist Paulo Grangeon and he hopes the installation will raise awareness about the pandas' state of endangerment.
The tour seeks to shine a spotlight on conservation and sustainable development, said PMQ, one of the organisers in a statemtent.
The number of pandas reflect that there are only 1,600 giant pandas left in the wild, according to a figure from environmentalist group WWF.
