A 28-year-old woman died in hospital after a bus and the car she was travelling in got into an accident in Punggol Road.

A 30-year-old man, who was driving the car, was taken to hospital conscious. The police later found illegal e-vaporiser or vape pods in the car.

"The e-vaporiser-related offence will be referred to the Health Sciences Authority," the police said.

The accident took place along Punggol Road towards the TPE at about 2.50pm on May 13.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force, in response to queries on May 14, said one person was taken to Sengkang General Hospital and the other was taken to Changi General Hospital.

In photos of the accident site, a dark grey car can be seen behind a public bus ahead of a traffic junction. The car windscreen is shattered, and its hood appears badly damaged.

Responding to queries, a spokesman for public transport operator Go-Ahead Singapore said an 82 bus was involved in the accident, and that all 10 passengers and the bus driver got off the bus safely.

The bus driver also helped contain a fire that had broken out in the car's engine compartment, using a fire extinguisher from the bus, the spokesman added.
