Police nab man, 35, near Bedok for stealing bicycles

He was suspected of being involved in at least 28 cases of bicycle theft.

The thefts were reported over two months - between Sep 11 and Oct 25 this year.

On Saturday (Nov 8), police and officers from the Public Transport Security Command arrested the 35-year-old man around New Upper Changi Road.

A cutter and a spanner were seized.

Investigations are ongoing.

Those convicted for theft can be jailed up to 3 years and/ or fined.

Owners can safeguard their bicycles by:

1) Locking the bike when it is left unattended.

2) Secure all removable components.

3) Use a durable lock, like a U-lock that provides better security or a bicycle lock with an alarm feature.
