This article is more than 12 months old

Sky News was roundly criticised on social media after its presenter was seen rummaging through the luggage of a MH17 passenger in a news clip.

The footage, which aired on Sunday, showed Mr Colin Brazier going through personal belongings live on air before he understood the gravity of what he was doing..

The Sky News presenter later said: “We shouldn’t really being doing this, I suppose, really.”

But by then, it was too late, and the damage had been done.

Outraged viewers took to social media to express their disgust.

Sky News has since issued an apology.

Its spokesman said: "Today whilst presenting from the site of the MH17 air crash Colin Brazier reflected on the human tragedy of the event and showed audiences the content of one of the victims' bags. Colin immediately recognised that this was inappropriate and said so on air. Both Colin and Sky News apologise profusely for any offence caused."
