Security at train depots beefed up after vandalism incident
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced Friday (Nov 21) that public transport operators have taken steps to beef up security at train depots.
This follows the latest vandalism case at Bishan Depot involving two German men.
According to an LTA spokesman, the steps include increasing the number of security personnel and frequency of security patrols at the depots, in addition to upgrading the perimeter fencing around the depot.
Stringent daily inspections will also be carried out on the interior and exterior of trains before departure from the depots for commuter service.
The LTA is continuing investigations into this incident.
