Ang Mo Kio cheat swapped $12,800 diamond ring with $4 fake
A Singaporean man was sentenced this morning to five years' corrective training for cheating and a string of other offences.
Mohammad Japar, 41, and an accomplice, conspired to cheat a pawnshop in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8 by replacing a $12,800 diamond ring with a $4 fake sold at the pawnshop.
The incident occurred at Sept 23 last year at Shing Heng pawnshop.
Luckily, an alert employee at the pawnshop realised the genuine ring had been swapped and taken out of the shop by Mohammad.
The police were called in.
