Driving to Malaysia during the public holiday weekend? Take note of these tips
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has issued travel advice for those intending to use the land checkpoints at Woodlands and Tuas this long public holiday weekend.
Traffic flow through both checkpoints is expected to be heavy.
Those departing Singapore should expect heavy traffic on Thursday and Friday (July 16 and 17), while passengers coming back to Singapore should expect traffic build up on Sunday (July 19).
To avoid the surge of traffic, ICA has advised that travellers adjust their travel plans accordingly with the tips below.
Check on the traffic situation
Travellers leaving Singapore by Woodlands or Tuas Checkpoint will be able to know in advance the traffic situation from LTA’s Expressway Monitoring & Advisory System (EMAS) installed along the AYE and BKE respectively.

- Call the traffic information hotline at 6863-0117
- Tune in to the radio for the latest traffic conditions
- Visit LTA’s One Motoring website at www.onemotoring.com.sg or the MyTransport.Sg portal.

Use the automated clearance system
Eligible users (Singaporeans, Singapore Permanent Residents and Long Term Pass holders) are encouraged to use the enhanced Immigration Automated Clearance System (eIACS) lanes at the bus halls for immigration clearance.
Check that you have the right documents
Travellers are to ensure that they are carrying their own and valid passports before presenting them for immigration clearance at the checkpoints.
Be careful about what you're bringing in and out of S'pore
Travellers are to make sure that they do not bring unlawful or prohibited goods into or out of Singapore. The list of controlled and prohibited items can be found on ICA’s website.
