This article is more than 12 months old

A former assistant nurse pleaded guilty on Wednesday (Aug 26) to one count of sedition and two counts of giving false information to the police.

Ello Ed Mundsel Bello, 29, a Filipino, who was from Tan Tock Seng Hospital, admitted to posting comments on Facebook criticising Singaporeans that could promote ill-will and hostility between Singaporeans and Filipinos here.

He did this in his flat at Block 707 Yishun Avenue 5 at around 10pm on Jan 2.

The next day, after learning the comments had gone viral, he went to Chong Pang Neighbourhood Police Post where he lied to Corporal Aavram Karl Roch, claiming he did not post them.

He lied again to Assistant Superintendent Lim Hao Jun at the Ang Mo Kio Police Division Headquarters on Jan 4.

He was dismissed by the hospital five days later.

Bello will be back in court on Sept 16.
