Indonesia will be taking up Singapore's offer of help in combating the haze, said Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan on Facebook.

In a post on Wednesday (Oct 7) night, the new Foreign Minister said the ministry had "reiterated our haze assistance package, which includes assets, personnel, high-resolution satellite pictures and hotspot coordinates" to the Indonesian Embassy.

"Had a good discussion this evening with Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi who indicated that Indonesia will now take up our offer. Good for our countries to work together to resolve this as soon as possible," he said.

Singapore has been hit by haze from Indonesia for a few weeks now and air quality got so bad that schools were closed for a day last month.

The 3-hour PSI dropped below 100 on Wednesday morning and has remained in double digits throughout the rest of the day.
