Not cool: Ice cube supplier jailed after biting off part of man's ear
A distribution manager for a company that supplies ice cubes was jailed 2 1/2 years on Friday (Dec 4) and ordered to receive three strokes of the cane after biting off part of a man's ear in a scuffle.
Tan Wei Yong, 43, who pleaded guilty to one count of voluntarily causing grievous hurt, had committed the offence after the Sundown Ultra Marathon at the Marina Barrage at around 3.15pm on Sept 15, 2013.
Tan, who used to work for Tuck Lee Ice, fought with Mr Teng Teng Yao, 34, a director of an events management company.
He had complained that Mr Teng's company had not cleared the ice in the ice boxes.
Tan's bite caused part of his victim's left ear to be severed. It is now permanently disfigured.
