Not stopping at checkpoint: 2 nabbed in 2 days

They were at the checkpoint but they didn't stop for clearance — so two people ended up being arrested.

A 41-year-old Malaysian man drove a Singapore-registered car past the Woodlands Checkpoint immigration counter in the early hours of Monday (June 29).

The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officer activated the alarm at about 3.50am and the Arrival Car Zone was locked down immediately.

The driver was arrested.

This morning at about 5.10am, another car driver also failed to stop for immigration clearance.

The Malaysia-registered Perodua was tailgating the car in front at the Woodlands Checkpoint.

The ICA officer activated the alarm and the area was locked down immediately.

The driver, a 34-year-old Malaysian woman, refused to comply when officers asked her to switch off the engine and unlock the vehicle.

They had to break both the front and rear passenger windows to escort her out.

She was found to have an expired travel document.

Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
