This article is more than 12 months old

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) is investigating videos of its officers thrashing a bunk that was posted online on Monday (April 27) afternoon.

Its director of public affairs, Colonel Abdul Razak Abdul Raheem said the SCDF had commenced investigations on the videos immediately and investigations are still ongoing.

"Let me assure you that we take this matter very seriously and will leave no stone unturned," he said.

At the start of the video, a trainee can bee seen smearing what looks like black shoe polish on the floor of the dorm with his boot.

The video then pans to the rest of the dorm, showing broken bunk beds, chairs, fans and cupboards.

Mattresses and pillows are also strewn all over the floor.

The rest of the dorm was filled with broken bed frames, chairs, fans and cupboards.

Col Abdul Razak said: "We in SCDF are as perturbed as the online viewers and members of public on the matter. But let me stress that this is an isolated incident of this nature. It does not reflect the culture, the discipline, the decorum and conduct of SCDF officers and men."

He added: "As you can see in today's fire at Joo Koon Crescent, this is what we do day in day out, putting ourselves in harm's way, taking calculated risk to mitigate incidents, to minimize damage to property & save lives. This is SCDF."
