Soccer player jailed for attacking ref who sent him off
A player from the Container Logistics Department United football team was jailed 10 months on Friday (Aug 28) for assaulting a referee during a match on Dec 4, last year.
Muhammad Maziz Abdul Rahman, 29, was also ordered to pay $2,000 in compensation after he pleaded guilty to one count of voluntarily causing grievous hurt to Mr Mohd Asadullah, 35 who had sent him off during the match for dissent.
Maziz committed this offence during a PSA Football League match between his team and PPT United.
The incident happened at the football field of the PSA Club at Bukit Chermin Road off Telok Blangah Road.
While wearing his football boots, he lunged his left foot at the referee's right thigh, punched his face twice and kicked the back of his head.
