This article is more than 12 months old

As he was driving along Keppel Road this morning, the 37-year-old slowed to make a turn.

But when he applied the brakes, his white Nissan suddenly skidded.

It then crashed past road barriers and flipped onto its side on a grassy patch, trapping the man inside.

The driver, who declined to give his name, told Lianhe Wanbao that it felt like his world was spinning as the vehicle skidded out of control.

The impact of the crash caused the bumper to fall off.

Parts of the engine were also exposed.

Strangers to the rescue

When the car finally came to a standstill, the door on the driver's side was stuck.

The man struggled to release his seat belt, then crawled to the left side, which unfortunately, was also jammed.

"Eventually, a couple in their 40s came to the rescue and freed me," he said.

He does not know who the Good Samaritans were.

A police spokesman said they received a call about the accident along Keppel Road towards the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) at about 9.50am today.

Investigations are ongoing.

Wanbao said the driver suffered abrasions on his left hand.
