Police have arrested three men suspected of trying to commit a gruesome murder.

The arrests on Monday (June 22) came a day after a 28-year-old man reported to police that he had been assaulted by two men at a carpark at Block 747A, Pasir Ris Street 71.

The victim said his cries for help attracted the attention of passers-by and that the attackers fled with another man.

After extensive enquiries, police established the identities of the three suspects.

They nabbed the first suspect, a 37-year-old man, at Balestier Road at about 1pm on Monday (June 22) during an ambush.

Later that day, at about 9.50pm, officers arrested two more male suspects, both aged 32, at a chalet at Aloha Changi.

What they found in the chalet was shocking: a meat mincer, chainsaw, kitchen knives, gas cooker, gas cylinder tank, a tool set, trolley bags, plastic sheets, cable ties, cleaver, aprons, chopping board and rubber boots.

Police officers were also alerted to an abandoned vehicle at the basement carpark of Changi Airport Terminal 3 at about 6.40am on Tuesday (June 23).

Preliminary investigations suggest that the white Mitsubishi multi-purpose vehicle is linked to the case.

The three will be charged in court today with abetment by conspiracy to commit murder.

Police are looking for 29-year-old Myanmar National Aung Aung, who left Singapore on Monday morning, to assist in the investigation.
