Torque magazine celebrated its 25th anniversary in fine style with Singapore's first-ever 25-hour race around the island last Friday (Aug 28).

A total of 160 participants in 80 cars took part in the sixth edition of Torque On The Move, which first began in 2010.

The 25-hour event began at 8pm on Friday with a series of 25 social media bonus challenges before the teams checked in on Saturday (Aug 29) morning at the SPH Media Centre on Genting Lane for a 10am flag-off.

Participants were required to find five compulsory Torque Junction checkpoints while completing the bonus challenges to earn more points.

The event concluded at 9pm on Saturday evening, where Mr Justin Mai and teammate Rayson Yim of Team 34 were crowned winners after scoring the most points.

The duo scored the top prize worth $9,000 in a pair of Tissot T-Race MotoGP watches, a set of Goodyear Assurance TripleMax tyres, a driving-simulator party at KTI GP Centre for up to 16 people, and a week-long drive in a selected Hyundai passenger car.

Mr Mai, 24, said: "The event was very enjoyable and well planned. The Torque Junction clues were challenging and it was great fun."

Team 29's Ms Ho Yizheng and Ms Olivia Cheong came in second while Mr Benjamin Yap and Mr Jared Lim of Team 32 came in third.

Torque editor David Ting said: "Our title's signature event scaled new performance heights this year with the supersized 25-hour edition.

"It's a great way to mark the 25-year milestone of Torque, the authority on all things automotive in Singapore."
