Two workers rescued from gondola at Jurong East
Two workers, who were stranded on a gondola at Block 327, Jurong East Street 31, were rescued by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) at about 9.30pm yesterday.
The pair were being lowered at around 6.30pm when the machine jammed at the ninth storey, their supervisor, who wanted to be known as Mr Sanker, told The New Paper.
"It is our last day, and (the workers) were up there painting the block number," said Mr Sanker.
An SCDF spokesman said a Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team rescuer was deployed onto the gondola to aid them in lowering it to the ground.
A safety life air pack was also set up as a precautionary measure.
