The Chinese Garden was closed yesterday afternoon after a decomposed body of a 42-year-old female was found floating near the shore of Jurong Lake.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted at 1.50pm and sent two fire bikes, a Red Rhino, a fire engine and an ambulance to the scene.

The police cordoned off the White Rainbow Bridge, which allows visitors to cross the lake to enter main attractions such as the Garden Courtyard.

A police tent was set up by the shore.

A security guard, who declined to be named, said he had just had his lunch when he heard a commotion at the bridge.

He saw a large crowd there and found out about the body from his supervisor.
